Bibek
Hello! My name is Bibek and I am 6 years old. I am in the first grade. My favorite subject is English. When I am not at school, I like watching cartoons and playing mobile games. I would like to be a doctor when I grow up. I have severe hemophilia A. I have missed nearly a month of school in the past six months due to bleeds. It has made it hard for me to do well in school. When I have a bleed, I have to go to the hospital for treatment. The hospital is a 10-kilometer taxi ride away. Bleeds have affected my ankles and knee. I receive physical therapy to try to improve my ability to use those joints. I recently celebrated my birthday with my school friends. I also attended the World Hemophilia Day celebration put on by my local hemophilia chapter. This summer, I was able to go to a camp with other kids suffering from bleeding disorders. It was very educational and a lot of fun. I live with my grandparents, parents, aunt and uncle in a house in our village. Our house is made of concrete and tin. We prepare our meals in our kitchen. Running water and toilet facilities are outside the house. We do not have a refrigerator. Our house is neat and clean. My grandparents both work as farmers. My father has gone out of the country to find work and my mother works in the service industry. Their average monthly income is $190.
