Paul Canque

This is Paul. He is 20 years old and he lives in The Philippines. He has hemophilia. Paul is in the 8th grade and is making very good progress. He misses school about once a month due to bleeding episodes, and this makes it harder for him to do well. In the past six months, Paul has been to the hospital for treatment of bleeds in his elbow, thigh, knee. He was treated with factor. He also had surgery on his calf. He lives with his mother; his 19-year-old brother, John, who also has hemophilia; and his 39-year-old cousin. Their monthly income is about $100. They live in their own house in the city. They have electricity, and their windows are protected with screens. Their kitchen is in the home and they cook with a gas burner. They purchase and store their water.
