Kirk

Hello! My name is Kirk. I recently graduated from college and am currently working as a salesman. I hope to secure a job in my area of studies, computer programing/IT, soon. I enjoy reading books, playing chess and the guitar. I have been diagnosed with moderate hemophilia A. The hospital is two hours from my family home, and it costs 50% of my familys monthly income to pay for the transportation to get there. This makes accessing health care very difficult. I was admitted to the hospital last year for a severe bleed. To cover the medical costs, my family had to borrow money from friends and family. We are still in debt over this and are struggling to pay people back. This has been a large stress for my family. I live with my parents and older sister. My father works as a farmer and my mother is employed by the government. Combined with my earnings, our familys monthly income is $160 a month. We live in a two-room house in a town outside of Cagayan de Oro in the Philippines. Our home is made of wood and tin. It lacks basic amenities, such as indoor plumbing. Our meals are cooked over a charcoal fire. My previous sponsor has discontinued their participation in the program, so I am in need of a new sponsor. Funds we receive will go towards my educational expenses and transportation to the hospital.
