Anil P.a.

This is Anil. He is 21 years old and he lives in India. He has severe hemophilia A. He is enrolled in a bachelors degree program, working toward a B.A. in Economics. In the past year Anil had surgery on his right knee and his left hip. He has impaired mobility in both knees and his left leg. And he has had bleeds that required treatment in many of his joints, including his shoulder, elbow, knee, and ankle. In spite of these challenges, he is doing very well in school and he aspires to have a job in the government when he graduates. In this past year Amil celebrated with his family the marriage of his sister. And he grieved the recent death of his aunt. Anil lives with his parents and younger brother. His father is not well. He was in an accident that has left him unable to work. His mother works as a casual laborer and his 19-year-old brother works as a salesman. Their home is in poor condition. It is made of palm. They cook over a kerosene burner and a charcoal fire. They get water from the courtyard outside their home, and their toilet is also outside their home. There is no refrigerator. They need to construct a new house. Amil is very grateful to have received a Continuing Education scholarship from Save One Life this past year.
