Hakeem Ullah

Ref# PKHC007

Hakeem Ullah
Hakeem is a 9 year old boy living in Pakistan. He is in the 2nd grade and is making very good progress despite having to miss some time due to bleeds. When he is at home, he completes his school work and helps his parents with chores around the house. He has been diagnosed with factor VII deficiency. The treatment center is close, and only takes about 5 minutes to get to by motor bike. Unfortunately, factor VII is often not available due to how rare of a condition it is, so most of his bleeds are treated with rest and ice. Thankfully, his joints are in good health and does not currently need physiotherapy. With his adult set of teeth coming in, he tends to have frequent bleeds in his mouth when his baby teeth fall out. Hakeem has a large family and they live in the village of Bannu. The house holds his parents, four sisters, two brothers, aunt, and cousin. His father is a manual laborer, and supports the family with the $50 per month that he earns. The only two children in the home that attend school are Hakeem and his 7 year old brother, Zadee. The family is still mourning the loss of baby Khatib, who passed in 2017 due to bleeding following a circumcision. The family and doctors did not know that he had a bleeding disorder. The family rents a small two-room house for $35 a month. It is made of mud with a tin roof and could use some major repairs. Hakeem's mother cooks meals over a charcoal fire in the courtyard. Their diet primarily consists of wheat, rice, and vegetables. Your sponsorship funds would help to pay for Hakeem's education, medical expenses, and food costs.
