Ramesh
Hello! My name is Ramesh and I am 24 years old. I am currently working towards my degree in Community Medical Assistance (CMA) at a community college. I am particularly passionate about the health education aspects of this program. After I have completed my studies, I would like to be a social worker. When I am not at school or studying, I enjoy reading novels and watching some television. I have been diagnosed with severe hemophilia B. The hospital that I receive treatment from is over 300 kilometers from my home which makes accessing care very difficult. I am an active member of the Nepal Hemophilia Society and greatly appreciate the services, medical care and support that the chapter provides. I helped in putting on the outreach camp that was organized by our chapter. I also recently participated in a physiotherapy training seminar that was held by the Nepal Hemophilia Society. I live with my parents, three brothers and my sister-in-law. My father and one of my brothers are employed as health workers. My eldest brother is a student like me. My brother Umesh, who also has hemophilia, is experiencing significant medical complications. As a result of prolonged urinary bleeding both of his kidneys have failed, so we are searching for a treatment to help him. My family lives in a small village in Nepal. Our house is constructed of wood and mud and is in generally good condition. We have electricity, a refrigerator and water in our home. Meals are cooked inside over a charcoal fire. We access toilet facilities outside. I have been a beneficiary with Save One Life since 2009. My sponsor recently decided to end their participation in the program, so I am now in need of a new sponsor.
