Tristan Jay

This is Tristan. He is 12 years old and he has severe hemophilia B. He is in the 6th grade and he is doing very well in school. In recent months he has missed school about twice each week due to bleeds, but these absences have not affected his ability to do well. He is an honor student. His favorite subject is science. He likes to draw and participated in a cartooning contest in school. He hopes to become a doctor when he grows up. In recent months his bleeding episodes were treated at home. Last year he had to travel to the hospital to receive treatment. It is a 2-3 hour trip and costs $20. His right knee has impaired mobility. Tristan's parents separated when he was a baby and they now have their own families. Tristan lives with his grandparents and uncle in a three-room house on a family compound outside of Manila. His mother lives nearby. They have running water, and a toilet and they prepare their meals over a fire. Their home is neat and clean. Tristan's previous sponsor recently discontinued their participation in the Save One Life sponsorship program. He is in need of a new sponsor.
