Samee Shehzad

Ref# PKHC004

Samee Shehzad
This is Samee. He is 14 years old. He just started school last year and he is now in the 2nd grade. He is making good progress. Samee lives with his parents, his two brothers, and two sisters. His father works as a laborer and his income is not consistent. Moreover, a devaluation of the currency this past year has cut his average income in half, to about $50 per month. Samee's father also had a hernia operation this past year, which the family could not afford. They borrowed money for the surgery. Last year the family moved to their own one-room home, in a village near the city of Lahore. The house has water and electricity, and an indoor kitchen and toilet. But it is in very poor condition. The kitchen, bath and courtyard need repairs. Samee has type 3 von Willebrand Disease. This past year, he experienced two bleeds in his nose and mouth. He was treated at home with factor concentrate, provided by his hemophilia organization. If there is a medical emergency, his family must travel 200 kilometers to get to the hospital. Sameehas been physically weak because his family cannot afford enough food. His 9-year-old sister, Aysha, also has von Willebrand disease. Your sponsorship funds will help Samee's family to buy food. It will also support his education and medical care.
