This is Sachin. He is 14 years old and in the 10th grade. He is currently studying for the !0th Standard exams at home with some tutoring. Sachin has moderate hemophilia A. His frequent bleeds have impaired the mobility in his elbow, knee and hip joint. He is receiving physiotherapy to improve his condition. Sachin lives with his parents and younger brother in a village outside of Bangalore, India. His brother also suffers from hemophilia. His father works as a laborer and earns approximately $100 a month. Their home is made out of bricks and mud, with a roof made of asbesos sheets. They have a living room and a small kitchen, but no bedrooms. They do not have running water inside the house. They do have a refrigerator, and they cook food with a gas stove.
