Alyan

Ref# PKHC006

Alyan
Meet Alyan. He is 8 years old and in the 2nd grade. His school is less than half a mile from his home, so he is able to walk there. He works hard at school and is making very good progress despite occasionally missing school due to his bleeds. Alyan has been diagnosed with severe hemophilia A. The treatment center is 3 miles from his house. He rides on a motor bike to get there. Unfortunately, factor is often not available so most of his bleeds are treated with rest and ice. His joints are currently in good condition and he is not in need of physiotherapy at this time. He lives in the village of Mandi Bhao Din in Pakistan with his parents and four sisters. His parents both work as manual laborers, with combined earnings of $60 a month. Two of his sisters are students. His family speaks Punjabi in their home. No members of his family are able to read or write in English. The family rents a small one-room house for $25 a month. Their home is constructed of bricks with a wooden roof. It is in very poor condition and requires major repairs. They have electricity but do not have a refrigerator. The home has running water. Alyan's mother cooks meals over a charcoal fire in the courtyard. Their staple diet consists of wheat, rice and vegetables. Your sponsorship funds help to pay for Alyan's health care, food and education.
